Real Malaysia "Boleh"! rm1 for teh tarik & roti canai!!!

Is high time for the real Malaysia "Boleh" story to be told, to be spread and to be proud of. These story, i will simply categorized them under "Good news!, Malaysia!"

To start with..here is what was published over the weekend, excerpted from TheStar.

Good News! Malaysia : rm1 for a piece of roti canai and a glass of teh tarik

Where : Ukhwah Restoran Rakyat 1Malaysia @ Lorong Medan Tuanku Satu (next to Prescott Inn).

Details : A piece of roti canai selling @ 40 sen while a glass of teh tarik is selling at 60 sen.

It is run by Non-Profit-Oriented Koperasi Pendidikan Islam Malaysia Bhd or Ukhwah. According to its president, Datuk Rahim Baba. the objective of a co-peratives is to serve the people, hence food should always be reasonably priced.

Revelations : Cost of making a piece of roti canai is 20sen & cost of making a glass of teh tarik is 42sen!

In the meanwhile, the mamaks have been 'communicating' to the mr president to maintain the exhorbitant current market price and not the affordable people-friendly price.

Our government asked us to change lifestyle!!!

As louded the 1st time by the TPM and recently, again by the PM, i would like to sharehow i have already taken some measurements to "changed my lifestyle".

1. Stop buying newspaper - Alternative : Read The Sun (free!) or office's newspapers (also free!)

2. Change breakfast venue - to the cheapest and yet near to office. (Might hv to tapau breakfast if have to change lifestyle even further!)

3. Whenever possible (especially school holiday), take non-toll road to work. Sometimes i just cant waste TIME to save $.

4. Changed maxis plan75 to plan50 and save around rm20 a month! yippee!

5. Download ebooks instead of buying. The downloads do not have monetary terms :P

6. Don't really go cinema anymore - especially after ending my bachelorhood. Anyway. don't have much TIME for movies either.

A note to the G man : i hope u all don't come up with another monkey idea of sending malaysian to the space holiday again!!!

That's life to me (1)

On my way to work this morning, i saw 2 interesting thing. The 1st one is a woman being groped. At which part? Groped on her breast! But this overweight woman, in her middle-age with a rotund figure was smiling! All she did was giving a friendly shout "Oi!" and then try to block the hand that groped her. Oh, by the way, the one that 'molest' her is a lady too. Haha. What i saw was just a feminine greetings. Guy friends would have grope somewhere where both thighs join. What is amazing with these senior ladies is that they still do what they used to do in their teens. That's life to me.

Another very interesting thing i saw is the rotiman. Much has been written about the rotiman but have anyone everseen a rotiman doing a 'handover' of his route to another rotiman? The rotiman i saw was accompanied in another bike by another more senior guy. When the rotiman was stopped by a customer, this elderly guy also stopped his bike. From there, i knew immediately that this elderly guy was accompany the rotiman which could have take over his business or his route. Amazing, amazing. Both guys are actually quite old already, especially the one that accompanied the rotiman and yet they were doing exactly what has to be done. That's life to me.

ps. The long hiatus from blogging? Well, my baby boy is borned on May 6th 2008. That's another LIFE for me :)

Paradise Island Revisited.

Exactly a week ago, tonight, we were on our way to one of the less known east coast island of Tenggol. Yup! You heard me right, even people from Trengganu never heard of it. Hihi.
It is 45 minutes boat ride from Kuala Dungun.
Actually, Tenggol is marketed as diver's paradise hence most non-divers would sunbath in Perhentian or Redang island instead. Aha, that's good news for me! For when the divers off to some wreckage or fighting some underwater current, the whole beach in the lblue agoon belongs to me (and friends).
Anyway, after hiatus of 6 years, i was back to the island on the exact date, 31st august (Independence day of Msia). The highlight this round must be the numerous shooting stars that caught of eyes while we we stargazing on the beach. The night is dark enough to see many glittering stars hovering above us. What an amazing moment it was. :)

50 Years Later...

50 years ago, Malayan Railway (present KTMB - Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad) announced of their new Kuala Lumpur - Singapore express which will cut short travelling time by 38 minutes.
The train leaves KL in the morning 10am and will arrive in Singapore at 5.35pm. (As advertised in NST 26th August 1957). Total journey time : 7 hours & 35 minutes.

Lets fast forward to present time. A quick check at http://www.ktmb.com.my/ revealed that the travelling time from KL to Singapore via Ekspres Sinaran Pagi will take ...ahem..10 minutes faster than 50 years ago. Total journey time : 7 hours & 25 minutes (ETD 8.30am, ETA 3.55pm)
Is that progress or what? 10 minutes saving in travelling time and yet, soon enough, we are sending someone to space!
